If you are considering the idea of a destination wedding, please look into St. Augustine, Florida! John & Joni live in Washington, D.C. but wanted to have a Florida wedding. St. Augustine’s historic, colorful streets make for so many perfect backdrops. Besides that, it really is such a romantic place. I always get excited when I have the opportunity to shoot in the Oldest City!
Talking with Joni throughout their engagement, she wanted to make sure the streets of St. Augustine were a part of their day (and I agreed!). I mean if you are getting married in St. Augustine, you HAVE to do portraits in the historic area! Their sun-filled wedding day started for the girls at a breathtaking Air B&B home across the bridge overlooking the water. The guys got ready at the Casa Monica Hotel- another historic location in downtown St. Augustine. Then we took a limo to the church for their traditional Greek Orthodox ceremony before the reception at my favorite venue- The White Room!
John & Joni’s wedding was Florida citrus inspired, specifically orange blossoms (wait til you see the centerpieces!). I loved this subtle theme for their wedding and how Joni paired the mixed bridesmaid dress colors of blush & green with it. It made for an amazing Florida color palette.
These two along with their bridal party made the day so fun. My second shooter and I were laughing so much that day! Their reception was non-stop dancing with traditional Greek music and more, and was such a great celebration to be part of. Congratulations John & Joni!
